Pilates is a full body exercise system named after Mr. Joseph Pilates, who himself called his method Contrology.
Pilates is a physical training regimen based on what the body is designed to do – to be in motion.
Contrology is so precise and so concentrated that the results are long lasting and remain with you forever if you practice on a regular basis.The exercises are performed with or without equipment at a low number of repetitions.
Muscles are strengthened without creating bulk. The result is longer, more flexible muscles and improved strength and body awareness.
The ultimate goals of the Pilates system are: to acquire an extremely high degree of abdominal strength, overall body awareness and muscle control and the combined power of body and mind.
Because of its enormous appeal, the Pilates method has inspired many variations of the original work.
Many of these versions have simplified the method or added variations to the original exercises.
Whiles many of theses changes were well intentioned they often lack guiding principles of Joe’s Pilates original system.
Rhythm, control, deep muscular work, strong energy, balance, awareness - these are all very important hallmarks of the original Pilates method, the system Joe called Contrology.
Joseph Pilates was a strong man and his method reflected his energy and personality. Strong and powerful!
